Information we collect
1) Information you provide in the app (stored locally)
Globe stores the following on your device using local storage:
- Onboarding choices (interest categories, expertise level)
- Preferences and settings
- "Seen facts" history (to avoid showing the same fact twice)
- Review prompt flags (e.g., whether a review request already happened)
This information is stored locally on your device. No account is required.
2) Analytics data (PostHog)
Globe uses PostHog analytics to measure product usage and improve the app. Events may include:
- Fact viewed
- Category selected
- Scroll depth
- Paywall conversion
We may also send aggregated onboarding and preference answers (for example, your chosen expertise level or interest categories) as event properties.
Important: Globe does not intentionally collect sensitive personal information such as precise location, contacts, photos, or health data.
3) Payments and subscriptions
If you choose to subscribe to Globe Premium, purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive your full payment details (such as your credit card number). Apple may share limited information with us (for example, subscription status) to provide Premium access.
4) Notifications
If you allow notifications, Globe schedules local notifications directly on your device. Globe does not send push notifications from a server.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Personalize your feed and experience level
- Prevent repeated facts
- Improve the app (analytics and product decisions)
- Provide Premium features if you subscribe
- Deliver local reminders if you enable notifications
Data storage and retention
- Local app data remains on your device until you delete the app or reset the app's settings.
- Analytics events may be retained in PostHog for a period of time to operate and improve the service.
Sharing and disclosure
We do not sell your personal information.
We may share limited information with service providers strictly to operate the app (for example, analytics through PostHog). These providers process data on our behalf and under their own terms and security measures.
Your choices
- You can disable analytics by turning off "Analytics" in the app settings (if available) or by restricting tracking permissions at the OS level.
- You can disable notifications at any time in iOS Settings.
- You can delete the app to remove locally stored data.
Children's privacy
Globe is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
International transfers
Analytics data may be processed in countries other than your own, depending on where our service providers operate.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will update the "Effective date" above and publish the new version at this same URL.
